Match Report - Thornbury Falcons U10s HML Div C

Whitchurch turned in a strong performance to beat Thornbury 9-1. A hat-trick for Chesney Blackett and a much-deserved goal for the hard-working and industrious Devon Walsh gave the home side a 4-1 win in the first game and the Whites drove home the advantage, winning the second game 5-0, with Jamie Hicks opening the scoring and Zac Mainstone, Jay Selway and Jack Mattock helping themselves to a goal apiece after an unfortunate Thornbury own goal.

Match Report - AEK Boco - 1st Nov 2009 HML U10s Cup

Whitchurch produced a fine display against a spirited, but under-strength Boco side on a blustery and drizzly day. A fine hat trick for Chesney Blackett, who then turned provider, cutting the ball back from the bye line for the onrushing Billy Rice-Hanlon to net, set the Whites on their way, winning the first match 4-2. In the second match Whitchurch built on their lead with goals from Jay Selway (3), Jack Mattock (2), Zac Mainstone (2), Jamie Hicks (1) and George James (1) to win the game 9-0 for an aggregate 13-2.

Match Report - Winterbourne United - 4th Oct 2009 HML U10 Div C

Whitchurch came out on top of this entertaining U10 division C game with a solid display against a well-organised and strong Winterbourne side.

In the first game Josh Winchester opened the scoring with a long, looping effort from inside his own half catching the Winterbourne keeper off his line. Chesney Blackett doubled the lead with the first goal of a well-taken hat trick before Winterbourne hit back with a drilled shot from close range after an indirect free kick. The home team rallied in the second half and put on the pressure with Ben Carfield and Jay Selway bagging a goal apiece and the game finished 6-2.

Billy Rice-Hanlon and George James netted twice each for Whitchurch in the second game and Francis Craig scored his maiden goal for the club with a sweetly struck shot from distance. In reply Winterbourne knocked in four of their own in an end to end game to finish 5-4 for an aggregate 11-6.

Match Report - Bristol Spartak - 27th Sept 2009 HML U10s Cup

Whitchurch Sports eased their way into the third round of the U10s cup with an 8-3 victory over Bristol Spartak.

In the first match Chesney Blackett opened the scoring for Whitchurch from a tight angle and soon after, Jay Selway doubled the lead with a sweetly-struck long range effort. Spartak pulled one back before Jay drove home a free kick for his brace. The visitors finished the game strongly and scored twice to end the game 3-3.

In the second match an under-strength Spartak side fought bravely against the odds but struggled to contain a rampant Whitchurch team. A brace each for Billy Rice-Hanlon and George James and a goal for Devon Walsh ending the game at 5-0 for an aggregate 8-3 to take Whitchurch into the third round.

Match Report - Thornbury Falcons - 6th Sept 2009

Whitchurch opened the season with an entertaining draw away to Thornbury. Chesney Blackett opened the scoring for Whitchurch after sustained pressure from the visitors but Thornbury rallied to hit back with two goals of their own to take the lead. With the game evenly balanced Chesney struck again to net a late equaliser and the game ended 2-2.

In the second game George James scored for Whitchurch in a close fought 1-1 draw for an aggregate 3-3.

Both teams played some highly entertaining and attractive football and can look forward to a promising season ahead.

Match Report - St Nicholas - 25th Oct 2009

Whitchurch Sports roared to a 17-3 victory against bottom-of-the-table St Nicholas B.

Billy Rice-Hanlon hit a hat-trick and Devon Walsh and Sid Ricketts both scored twice as Whitchurch won the first match 7-2.

Jay Selway and jamie Hicks helped themselves to four goals each in a one-sided second game, which ended 10-1. Matty Legg , with his first goal for the club, and debut boy Cameron Francis were Whitchurch's other scorers.

To their credit, Saints battled to the end and they would have scored more goals over the two games but for some smart work by the Whitchurch keepers.

England U16s v Wales U16s on 15th Oct 7.40 p.m

England U16s will take on Wales U16s in the Victory Shield at Huish Park, Yeovil Town's stadium, on Thursday October 15th at 7.40 p.m. I think this would be a good opportunity for the boys to see an international match at close hand and give them a taste of what they could aspire to. It would also be a good bonding session for the team.
Tickets are £3 for adults and 50p per child.
I organised a trip like this before to see an U17s international at Huish Park and it was a great success. I will also contact all the other Whitchurch managers to see if their teams want to go and then make a block booking.
I would appreciate you getting back to me asap to express an interest or not. We can sort out any travel difficulties when we know who is going.
Cheers,
Wayne

Presentations for Under 7's, 8's & 9's

We will be having a joint end of year presentation for under 7's, 8's and 9's on Saturday 11th July 2009 at approximately 2pm.
The boys from all age groups will receive their medals/trophies at the presentation. We thought that we would make it a bit more fun for everyone, so we plan on hiring a number of inflatables , a disco and having a BBQ. The inflatables will be:- shoot & score (for all ages), a bouncy castle (up to 12 years of age), gladiators (from 5 years to adult), children's sumo suits (from 8 to 16 years) and adult sumo suits!!! We will be having the disco from 5pm.
We will be selling tickets for the presentation at the cost of £10 per ticket per family regardless of size, including siblings and grandparents too. (This is to cover the cost of the entertainment).
We will be asking local supermarkets to donate food for the BBQ. If anyone has a BBQ which they don't mind lending for the the day this will be very much appreciated, also we need volunteers to cook/prep the food.
The club house will be open all day for refreshments.
If anyone works for or knows of a company or person who would like to make a donation or sponsor the teams in any way please can you let your child's team manager know.
